Spa Heater & Pump Replacement
Most common big-dollar hot tub repair. We carry parts on the truck.
Call (951) XXX-XXXXThe two parts most likely to fail on a hot tub older than five years are the heater assembly and the circulation or jet pump. We do spa heater and pump replacement as our most common service call across the Inland Empire. Same-day service for most situations.
Hot Tub Heater Replacement
Spa heaters have three failure modes:
- Heating element burns out — the most common. Element trips the high-limit switch or the GFCI. We replace the element if the heater body is in good shape (parts cost is reasonable), or the entire heater assembly if the housing is corroded.
- High-limit switch failure — cheap part, quick fix.
- Heater housing leak or corrosion — full assembly replacement. See our leak repair page if the housing is also leaking water.
Most heater jobs run $400 to $1,100 parts and labor combined, depending on brand. We bring options.
Spa Pump Replacement
Spa pumps are mostly Balboa, Gecko, Aqua-Flo, or Waterway. After 8 to 12 years, bearings wear, seals fail, and the impeller can crack. The common signs:
- Loud humming or vibration that wasn't there before
- Pump runs but no water movement (impeller damage)
- Water leaking from pump body (wet end seal failure)
- Pump trips breaker (motor windings shorted, often from water intrusion)
We replace pump-end-only when the motor is still good (about half our calls) or full motor-pump combos when the motor is also failing. Most replacements run $500 to $1,200 depending on horsepower and brand.
Brands We Carry
We stock the most common heater elements and pump assemblies on every service truck:
- Balboa heater assemblies and pumps (most common in the Inland Empire)
- Gecko heaters and packs
- Aqua-Flo XP2, XP3, FloMaster pumps
- Waterway Executive, Hi-Flo, Champion pumps
- Hot Spring / Watkins No-Fault heaters
- Sundance / Jacuzzi proprietary parts (we order, 2 to 4 days)
Why Not Just DIY From Amazon
Honestly, if you're handy and the breaker is off, a heater element swap is doable. We just don't recommend a full heater assembly or pump replacement DIY because of the GFCI bonding, the plumbing seal work, and the electrical risk if anything is wired wrong. The labor saved isn't worth the risk of frying the new pump or the control board on first power-up. See our control board repair page for why.
