Hot Tub Control Board Repair
Topside panels, circuit boards, and full spa pack replacement.
Call (951) XXX-XXXXHot tub control board repair is the most diagnostic-heavy service we offer. When a spa won't turn on, throws strange error codes, runs constantly with no command, or shuts off randomly — nine times out of ten the problem is electrical, and the source is the control board or the topside panel.
Symptoms of a Failing Control Board
- Spa is completely dead, GFCI not tripped, no display on topside panel
- Spa display shows nonsense characters or rapid flicker
- Error codes that don't match any real failure (e.g., flow error when pump is running fine)
- Pump or heater turns on by itself with no command
- Burning smell from inside the cabinet (usually a relay arcing or a transformer failing)
- Spa heats but never reaches set temperature
Boards and Topsides We Repair
Most Inland Empire spas run one of four control systems:
- Balboa — the most common. BP, GS, VS, EL series spa packs and topsides.
- Gecko — in.YE, in.YJ, in.YT, in.k packs, K-class topsides.
- Sundance / Jacuzzi — proprietary 6600 / 6800 / 850 series boards.
- Hot Spring / Watkins / Caldera — IQ 2020 and similar.
We carry common Balboa and Gecko replacement boards on the truck. Sundance and Hot Spring proprietary boards are 2 to 4 day order.
Repair vs Replace
For older boards with simple relay failure, we can sometimes replace the failed relay and have the board back in service for $200 to $350. For newer boards with proprietary chips and surface-mount components, replacement is the only option — usually $450 to $900 depending on the spa pack.
We always quote both options when both are viable. The cheaper repair is sometimes a stopgap, and we'll tell you that honestly.
Topside Panel Replacement
If the board is good but the topside panel is blank, cracked, or unresponsive, the panel itself is usually the failure. Topside panels are $150 to $400 typically. Quick swap, usually done same visit.
Common Mistakes That Damage Control Boards
- Running the spa during a power surge without a surge protector
- DIY heater or pump replacement with mismatched amperage
- Water intrusion in the cabinet from a slow leak (see our leak repair page)
- Rodent damage to wiring under the cabinet skirt
We check all four causes when diagnosing a control board issue. Fixing the board without fixing the root cause means we'll be back in 6 months.
